Product Reviews
Great but not predator proof
By: Jess on 6 March 2023I’ve previously left a review for this coop, thought it was fantastic, great quality and great value for money. But now I’ve owned it a couple of weeks, we’ve found a big design flaw that almost lost our chickens lives and has damaged the hutch. Every door has two latches except one door. This door is a small door on the rear side wall of the coop, to the right of the open end. The single latch position is vertical, and not fox proof. A fox had got this latch open, multiple bangs against the door will make the latch open, the door opens inwards and the ramp was blocking it from opening wide enough for the fox to fit through, the ramp saved the chickens, the fox was determined and pushing against the open door, grinding the ramp into the floor mesh and splitting it, the force of pushing the door against the ramp also caused the coop framework that runs along the bottom of the coop on that side to twist from the pressure and the framework has cracked and split. We heard the cracking from the house. Our dogs were already barking but they’re fenced away and the fox knew the dogs couldn’t get to it, we ran with torches and it took off. I was so glad the chickens were ok, but so disappointed to see how easily one fox caused so much damage to a new coop. My advice to anyone buying this coop is to screw that door closed permanently or add a 2nd horizontal positioned latch. There’s plenty of access from the end and the other side of the coop if you screw the door closed (we’ve done this)

Easy to build but rain gets in
By: Jules on 9 August 2021This was delivered quickly, and was very easy to put together. We reinforced it with galvanised wire as the wire seemed a bit thin and was only stapled on, and we put on additional latches with carabiner clips as the latches seem easy to open for a fox. Only disappointment is that when it rains, water gushes in every edge of every window/door. The roof does not provide any coverage from rain. We now have to figure out how to put on awnings for each opening, and a rain block for the chicken’s entrance to the coop, as rain also gets in that way. We also painted all the timber panels before putting it together, to hopefully stop the wood from rotting. I removed the low roosts and bolted them into a higher position inside the coop, to make the coop easier to clean.
